About the Author

Sol Smith is a father, husband, writer, and professor of writing living in The Woodlands, Texas. He has been a father for a brief four years, but is continually surprised at the ways in which fathers are able to separate themselves from their caring and nurturing roles as father. He writes this blog to chronicle his own mission to be the best father he can be to his children and hopes that other fathers will join him in become what they feel would be a badass dad.

Sol believes that his father is the greatest role model one could hope for and he continually falls short of this model of fatherhood. However, being a father is never cast in iron but is an evolving process that takes place in time. With work, he knows that he too will someday be a badass.

Just a precious picture. As a father of daughters ages 21 and 18 and a son of 16, the photo puts nothing but a smile on my face. I found the blog when my 18 year old called me a badass dad. What a compliment! Through it all, being a father is the most important calling. There was a time in my life when my business card was my identity. Then, I learned to slow down and see what really matters. To you and all the dads that find this out earlier than I did, will come many blessings.

Thanks! I guess we're at different stages of this game, but it's nice to see that you don't have to lose focus!

Maybe your daughter should buy you a "Badass Dad" T-shirt over in the Badass Store?

A friend told me about this website. I believe they knew you from the college, but I'm not entirely sure. They told me about the "Bad Ass Dad" t-shirt that you were wearing =)

GL on your move to Michigan! ;-)
